Project Description:
- The Riverwalk Corridor project limits will be identified through a cooperative effort between the Visioning Committee, the City of St Marks, the public, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Office of Greenways and Trails.
- Identify and analyze the existing physical conditions and development trends of the St. Marks Redevelopment Area, as defined by the St. Marks Visioning Committee during a data collection effort. Conditions such as existing land uses, future land uses, zoning districts, urban design features, signage, landscape character, existing transportation and transit facilities, existing infrastructure, and natural, cultural, and historic resources will be identified and mapped. Comprehensive Plan requirements and local codes and ordinances will also be analyzed and evaluated for the St. Marks Community.
- Conduct public workshops to revisit the final document prepared by the St. Marks Visioning Committee and to present preliminary findings from the data collection effort. Additional workshops will be held to discuss key items learned from the initial workshop and to address specific items related to implementation of the Riverwalk Plan. The workshops will provide guidance for achieving community consensus on certain key issues and a forum for translating the individual items into implementing policies.
- Develop the St. Marks Riverwalk Master Plan document based on data collection and public input as outlined in steps 1, 2, and 3. This document will outline the recommended changes in the City of St Marks Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code. This will require working meetings with Wakulla County staff, State Agency Officials and other key players to discuss review and provide final input to the draft Riverwalk Master Plan.
The final Master Plan will then be prepared for approval and
adoption
by the City Commission.
